Acquisitions & Development

In operation since 1984, Abbey Residential proudly owns and operates 9,500 apartments in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Texas. With our own fully staffed construction and management companies, we are able to oversee projects from inception to completion and operation. For more than three decades, we have successfully redeveloped and repositioned thousands of apartment homes.

As market experts, our management team visits and evaluates the neighborhood and all competitive properties in the general area prior to beginning any project. During the discovery phase, we determine what enhancements are necessary to exceed the amenities of local competitors. All improvements are performed by subcontractors who have been providing services to Abbey Residential Services, Inc. for many years and are accustomed to providing the quality product we expect in our communities.

Target Markets & Property Types

Abbey Residential seeks to add more properties to our growing portfolio of Class A apartment communities. We are interested in properties with a minimum of 200 units which are candidates for repositioning, new Class A developments, and land eligible to be developed for multifamily use. Development opportunities must be able to support communities of 200-500 apartments. We are also purchasing land in upscale neighborhoods that are capable of supporting newly constructed communities from 200 - 500 apartments.

Our efforts are focused on the Southwest and Southeastern United States:

  • North Carolina – Charlotte, Raleigh/Durham
  • South Carolina – Charleston, Greenville/Spartanburg, Myrtle Beach
  • Georgia – Atlanta, Savannah
  • Florida – Jacksonville, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Orlando, Tampa/St. Petersburg
